Luginsland is a showcase of solid wood doors. Whether they be antique doors reclaimed from a demolition site in Borreon, Spain, or contemporary doors, they are all solid wood, oversized, and magnificent.

This pair of doors entering into the Dining Room, is one set of five at Luginsland that are 250 years old and were reclaimed from a village estate in the Mediterranean vilaage of Borreon, in Spain. They are old growth, high elevation pine from the Pyrenees Mountains to the North.

These Spanish doors, ten feet in height are the entryway to the Library.

All contemporary doors at Luginsland are raised panel, solid Douglas Fir, and oversized.

The Luginsland project took a familial twist of fate when the owner (originally from Chicago) was introduced to the owners of one of Chicago's largest and most esteemed reclamation firms. Through their research, the owner was able to secure door hardware from the ashes of the Chicago Hilton which burned down in 1906. Known as Fanciful Beastie, the bronze door knobs and escutcheons were refurbished and used throughout the home. When supplies of knobs ran out, antique real glass doorknobs from various Chicago estates were used.
